The interesting charm like attachment on this antique stick pin is actually an 1852 20k gold Liberty Head Coin. This rare small coin first appeared after the California gold rush due to the abundance of gold available at that time. The coin itself measures 12mm across and weighs 1.7 grams and is 90% gold. The yellow gold pin is topped with a rose gold ball. Tests on the stick pin itself indicate that it is probably gold
plated as the readings fluctuate from 10k to 18k.* The coin has some wear especially around the date but is otherwise in good condition.
This attractive pin measures 2 1/8" and is in excellent condition.
Please note that we use a "Mizer" gold tester which provides a reliable gold reading without damage to the test subject. We will never damage a piece to determine whether an item is solid or gold plated. |
