This fabulous set of vintage earrings was created by Continental Jewellery Inc., Montreal. The brilliant prong set blue/purple aurora borealis stones are definite show stoppers and are wrapped in a silver tone setting. They measure 1 1/4" x 1/4" and are in excellent condition with no wear or damage. Both earrings are signed "Continental" on the back of each clip.
I believe that these earrings show that Continental did create jewelry that rivalled Canadian contemporary, Sherman Jewelry, in both quality and design. Continental did purchase some of their findings from the same company as Sherman which would account for the similarity in the design of some pieces.
This higher end Continental jewelry could easily become the next Sherman in the collecting community.
